However, you must also know that using a non-stick cookware has a lot to do with its handling. You are required to wait before you can put it into work.
This waiting period has to be filled out with what has been known as the seasoning of a cookware. This particular process involves filling of infinitesimally small pores on the surface of metal. This is necessary as it prevents the surface from being prone to various chemical actions of food which may rupture the non-stick coating.
First things first
The first step of seasoning your cookware is to rinse it. Prepare some warm, soapy water and place the pan in it. Scrub it lightly and pat dry with a gentle towel. Place the pan in the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit and allow cooling before moving on to the next steps. It is recommended that you do not rely on a dishwasher for this task as the detergents may prove harmful to the utensil.
Choosing the oil for the process of seasoning
You can go for flaxseed oil for a thin coating, canola and grapeseed oils possess considerably high tolerance, and peanut oil possesses a smoking point higher than most of the oils. However, you are advised not to go for olive oil or butter since their smoking temperatures are too low.
Some methods that might prove handy
One unorthodox method involves covering the surface of the pan with flaxseed oil and turning it over, over a heat of 500 degrees Fahrenheit for about 60 minutes. Cooling follows this. This process is repeated over and over again until a promising non-stick coating is achieved.
This method involved the use of an oven. You begin with pouring some vegetable oil on the surface of your pan and using your fingers to spread it. Place the pan in the oven at about 300 to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take it out from the oven, allow for it to cool. After wiping off excessive oil, the pan becomes ready.
The third method eliminates the use of the oven. You begin with pouring some vegetable oil on the surface of your pan and spreading it with fingers. Place this pan on medium flame and take it off when the oil starts to smoke. After wiping off the excessive oil, enjoy cooking on the pan.
Taking care of the pan
You must clean the pan after every use to keep its surface free from unwanted catalysts of oxidation. We recommend that you do not use soap. However, if you do use soap, the pan must undergo the process of seasoning again, prior to the use.
